Skywire at London Fashion Week 2016

London Fashion Week is one of the most anticipated events in the fashion calendar and of the year. Specialising in luxury fashion and retail brands, we definitely like to keep in the know of what is going on during this time of year.

A few members of the team were lucky enough to attend some of the London Fashion Week (LFW) events from the 18th- 22nd February.

Hosted by the British Fashion Council (BFC), LFW was held for the second time at Brewer Street Car Park, the central venue for Designer Showrooms and catwalk shows at the BFC show space.

We headed outside of the central hub to venues across the city to get a taste of what fashion trends are in store for AW16…

To kick off the week we attended Fashion Utopias International Fashion Showcase 2016 launch party at Somerset House. The event had different rooms with interesting interior designs and fashion installations. The exhibition covered five continents and featured Designers across 25 countries, as diverse as Korea, Guatemala, Egypt and Nigeria.

Our client Three Floor Fashion got involved in the action by presenting their AW16 collection at London Fashion Week: on their blog here.

Their latest collection takes a ‘floralistic approach to lace’ with their trademark mesh of fabrics and interesting cut outs in dark black, blue, red and purple hues. We can’t wait to shop online from the end of July.

We also got the pleasure of attending Paul Costelloe’s AW16 fashion show, which was held at Le Meridien hotel in Piccadilly. His latest collection focuses on a modern day female with power dressing and supreme tailoring. From sharp, oversized military coats in warm red checks to the brand’s trademark baby-doll dresses with a twist.

The Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden hosted a fashion event for Fashions Finest magazine, giving an unparalleled opportunity to new start-up fashion designers. Names including Linda Blisset London, a distinctive comtempory designer, Valennci and Gia Vivianna. For the vivid art lover, the show was mind-blowing and the designers made London Fashion Week very much their own.

One of our favourite events was the Belstaff Polar Pioneer & the Liv Tyler Capsule Collection at One Marylebone. The latest collection was a mix of polar and moto inspirations. Influenced by wintry landscapes while keeping their signature biker heritage with leather, parkas, shearling coats and neutral wools.

Sid Neigum, a Canadian Designer debuted his latest womenswear collection with a live model presentation at The Institute of Contemporary Arts. We loved the sculptural shapes, cutouts and drapes of his pieces.
